Electricity Planning in Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge-Guelph

Provide your input to ensure that a plan is developed to meet the future electricity needs in the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge-Guelph (KWCG) area.

The IESO is looking for your input on what matters most to you when you think about meeting your electricity needs in this province. Are there any future development plans in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph, Wellesley, Woolwich, Wilmot or North Dumfries that might be considered to help meet your future electricity needs that need to be considered in our studies? Have your say.

How will your input be used?

The information we receive will be reviewed by the IESO, along with other relevant stakeholder input. Feedback will be considered as part of this broader engagement initiative.

We will keep you informed and seek your feedback at major junctures in the plan development. Your insights and input are important to help shape your community’s electricity future.

About this Planning Process

The long-term electricity plan – Integrated Regional Resource Plan (IRRP) – will examine future needs and any actions required to ensure an adequate and reliable supply of electricity is provided to KWCG’s communities.

We will be asking for your input to help inform elements of this plan including:

A demand forecast to determine how much electricity is needed in the long-term to support local growth, developments and projects

  • Technical study to assess the magnitude, location and timing of the electricity needs to be addressed
  • Examination of potential options to evaluate feasibility, cost, community preferences and other considerations
  • Recommendations to ensure no major issues are unaddressed by the preferred solution
  • Implementation and next steps to identify any further conversations and actions that may need to be taken in the near-term
