The 2020 First Nations Energy Workshop is a Wrap!

Sep 23, 2020

On October 22nd the IESO hosted its annual 2020 First Nations Energy Workshop. Normally, the First Nations Energy Symposium is held in person over a few days in Toronto, but through the continued interest of our participants, the virtual event was a success!

Themed around building community energy capacity, First Nation communities and organizations across Ontario got a chance to hear about exciting upcoming programs and initiatives. We discussed the launch of the new Energy Support Programs, Regional Electricity Networks as well as new Energy Efficiency programming. We provided information on the upcoming free Community Energy Champion (CEC) online training sessions being facilitated by Ontario First Nation Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) starting Thursday, November 12th. We even previewed the launch of this online discussion platform, IESO Connects, where Community Energy Champions can share information, success stories, ask and answer questions and interact around a number of different topics.

And lastly, we held a panel discussion at the Workshop with three amazing CECs who shared their experiences and best practices advancing energy issues and priorities in their communities during this Pandemic. Throughout all of this, participants were able to interact with feedback and questions in real time, with answers being provided as they came in.

Again, our sincere thanks to all participants who were able to join us in this interactive event. We look forward to connecting with you all again in a number of different energy spaces, including this one!

Be well and stay safe.
